2004 ford f-250 sd review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. America's most popular heavy hauler. introductionthe 2004 ford super duty pickups look like serious big rigs, and they are. The f-250 and f-350 are willing and able to pull their weight. The f-350, with its optional dual rear wheels, competes against the 3500-series models from gm and dodge.  the super duty pickups feature first-class powertrains. The standard 5. 4-liter v8 gas engine was revised for 2003 for quieter and more refined operation. For 2004, the 6. 0-liter turbo-diesel v8 has been recalibrated for lower emissions. A 6. 8-liter gasoline v10 is also available.  the super duty trucks are not the latest in truck design and don't offer the level of chassis sophistication of their counterparts from gm and dodge. So they don't ride or handle as well.  however, ford continues to update its super duty pickups to make them more family-friendly. The base interior was recently upgraded and a power sliding moonroof is available for crew cabs. Several other new interior features further enhance comfort and convenience for 2004. Ford sells more pickups in the over-8500-pound gvwr range than gm or dodge. lineuplike most domestic pickups, the ford super duty is offered in more configurations than any normal human can count. And nearly 60 iterations are available in the f-350 (or 1-ton size). Any one of them can pull heavy loads. They offer more truck most consumers will ever need. (and when they aren't enough, ford builds bigger f-450, f-550, f-650, and f-750 trucks for the commercial market.)  f-250 and f-350 are available in regular-cab, extended-cab (supercab) and crew cab configurations. Wheelbase lengths include 137 inches (regular cab), 142 inches (supercab short-bed), 158 inches (supercab long-bed), 156 inches (crew cab short-bed), and 172 inches (crew cab long-bed).  all f-250 models come with single rear wheels. F-350 models are available with single rear wheels (srw) or dual rear wheels (drw). Xl models are pretty basic, with only a two-speaker stereo and fixed-interval wipers. Air conditioning 805) is optional. Xlt models are equipped more like the average passenger car, while luxurious lariats come with an overhead console, leather seats with six-way power, and aluminum wheels. Power telescoping trailer mirrors are available on xlt 220) and standard on lariat and king ranch; they feature heated glass and integral turn signal repeaters. Manually telescoping mirrors are available 125) on xl. A power sliding rear cab window is available on late-2004 models. A sport package 895) for xlt supercabs and crew cabs adds chromed tubular step bars; body-color grille, bumpers, and door handles; sliding rear cab window; fog lamps; privacy glass; an exclusive twill cloth 40/20/40 split-bench front seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.  the fx4 off-road package 225) adds skid plates, rancho shock absorbers, and a steering damper. Skid plates 100) are also available as a stand-alone option.  harley-davidson editions of the 4wd supercab and crew cab are also available. They come with all the king ranch goodies plus 18-inch aluminum wheels and unique harley-davidson design cues inside and out. Color choices consist of black, black and orange, and black and gray. Prices range from $39,340 for a short-wheelbase f-250 supercab to $42,800 for a long-wheelbase f-350 crew cab. walkaroundford super duty pickups are arguably the best-looking heavy-duty pickups available. The new heavy-duty dodge rams are more stylish, while the gm trucks are conservatively styled. The fords have a brawny, no-nonsense look that we find very appealing.  when the current generation of ford super duty pickups appeared in 1999, they conspicuously avoided the rounder, more aerodynamic look then used by the light-duty f-150. Then and now, the super duty trucks looked bluff-nosed and serious, with menacing, square-jawed front ends, brawny raised hoods and aggressive headlamps. Significantly, the all-new 2004 f-150 now looks more like its super duty stablemates.  super duty's dropped sill line gives it a sense of openness and accessibility. It also makes it easier to climb in, a welcome feature when juggling tools, briefcases, or even toddlers. A distinctive dip along the front door side glass improves the driver's view of the exterior mirrors, a big help when towing a trailer or for seeing around cargo boxes or dump-truck bodies. A locking tailgate is standard.  king ranch crew cabs are dressed up with body-color mirror housings and door handles, arizona beige wheel lip moldings, lighted running boards and special king ranch aluminum wheels. Three two-tone paint combinations are available: estate green, chestnut brown, or oxford white; each with arizona beige as the accent color. interiorford super duty trucks are very roomy, with comfortable and spacious seats and plenty of hip and shoulder room.  truck owners spend a lot of time in their vehicles, so the designers at ford paid a lot of attention to comfort and convenience. The interior features a fold-down armrest, a floor console that can accommodate a laptop, and a removable hanging storage bin that can attach to the dash. Even the standard bench seats recline. Controls are big and easy to reach and manipulate. The only exception is the instrument panel dimmer, which is a bit hard to reach. Optional power-adjustable pedals 120) are particularly helpful for smaller drivers, allowing them to sit further away from the airbag in the steering wheel.  two large cupholders are provided. The standard cigar lighter is augmented with a second auxiliary power outlet. The instrument cluster includes a transmission temperature gauge when an automatic transmission is ordered.  passenger-side airbags offer a deactivation switch on regular cab and supercab models. The rear doors are 25 inches wide. They hinge on the rear pillars of the cab and swing out a full 90 degrees from the doorsill, a design that eases the loading of gear and passengers. Hidden vertical beams and a cross brace where the front and rear doors meet contribute to occupant safety.  the rear seat cushion folds up and forward, and the seatback folds down to create a flat, steel loading surface, a perfect place to put tools and other heavy items that need to stay secure and out of the elements. All crew cabs except xl now come with grocery hooks, integrated cup holders and rear-seat head restraints. driving impressionford super duty's standard 5. 4-liter v8 is rated 260 horsepower and 350 pounds-feet of torque. Using computer analysis, ford engineers stiffened the engine block for 2003, reducing radiated noise by as much as 3. 1 decibels.  the 6. 8-liter v10 600) is rated 310 horsepower and 425 pounds-feet of torque. Both gas engines are part of ford's triton series, and employ overhead cams for valve control.  the 6. 0-liter powerstroke turbocharged diesel v8 is an expensive option 5,085), but it is rated 550 pounds-feet of torque at 2000 rpm, and 325 horsepower at 3300 rpm. That's more peak horsepower and torque than the 7. 3-liter turbo-diesel that ford offered until early last year. The new engine is also cleaner running and more economical.  a six-speed manual transmission is standard on all ford super duty models. Its fenders don't seem to fill rural roads ditch to ditch as much as the dodge trucks do. Steering is precise. Handling is good, though not as good as the newer designs from dodge and gm. Body roll is noticeably limited when cornering. Air Conditioning✔ Sport Package✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ Leather Seats✔ Aluminum Wheels

2002 ford f-350 sd review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. A hard-working truck with civilized manners. introductionwhen the going gets tough, the tough buy a super duty.  this is no truck for dilettantes or poseurs. Ford's super duty pickups look like serious big rigs, and they are. They are heavy-hauling, heavy-towing machines. And they outsell their dodge and chevrolet analogs combined.  these are specialized trucks as well, trucks with long lists of options to do special jobs. Any one of them can pull everything from a horse trailer to an airstream camper. They are all the truck most consumers will ever need. Ford also builds even bigger f-450, 550, 650, and 750 commercial-grade trucks.  f-250 and f-350 are available in regular-cab, extended-cab (supercab) and crew cab configurations. New for 2002 is a six-speed manual transmission, standard with the 5. 4-liter and 6. 8-liter engines.  also new for 2002 is long list of interior upgrades, to make these trucks more comfortable and user-friendly than before. lineupmost domestic-branded pickups are offered in more configurations than any normal human can count.  all ford f-250 models come with single rear wheels. F-350 models are available with single rear wheels (srw) or dual rear wheels (drw). The latter, often called 'duallies,' are good for towing as they offer higher tongue-weight ratings.  ford super duty f-250 competes with the other heavyweights from detroit: dodge ram 2500, chevrolet silverado 2500 and gmc sierra 2500. F-350 dual rear wheel models compete with the 3500-series models from gm and dodge.  many trucks these days are used for work and personal duty. Three trim levels are offered: standard xl, mid-level xlt, and luxurious lariat.  wheelbase lengths include 137 inches (regular cab), 142 inches (supercab short-bed), 158 inches (supercab long-bed), 156 inches (crew cab short-bed) and 172 inches (crew cab long-bed). walkaroundsome folks have compared the exterior styling of the f-250 to the big-rig look of the dodge ram. Ford's super duty trucks used to share their cabs with the f-150 light-duty models, but the current line of super duty pickups broke from that tradition. While the f-150s have rounded edges, the super duty trucks look bluff-nosed and serious. Their menacing, square-jawed front ends, brawny raised hoods and aggressive headlamps are a big tip-off that there are significant differences between a garden-variety f-150 and a super duty. We think they are the best-looking heavy duty pickups available.  but there's more here to separate the super duty trucks than just looks. It also makes it easier to climb in, a welcome feature when juggling tools, briefcases, or even toddlers. The interior features a fold-down armrest, a floor console that can accommodate a laptop, and a removable hanging bin for storage that can attach to the dash. Controls are big, easy to reach and manipulate. The only exception is the instrument panel dimmer, which is a bit hard to reach. Two large cupholders are provided. The standard cigar lighter is augmented with a second auxiliary power outlet.  a new instrument cluster for 2002 includes a transmission temperature gauge when an automatic transmission is ordered.  also for 2002, ford has added even more car-like luxury features, including six-way power for the passenger's seat on lariat crew cab models. In fact, xlt and lariat now feature entirely new seats with increased bolster height and shoulder width. An improved lumbar support provides a greater range of adjustment. Lariat now features a sunglasses bin and garage-door opener in its overhead console. Map pockets with integrated cup holders are now standard on supercab rear doors, and driver's-side grab handles are standard on all trim levels. Rear-passenger grab handles are now found in all crew cabs.  passenger-side airbags offer a deactivation switch on regular cab and supercab models. Adjustable seatbelt anchors increase safety and comfort. driving impressionthe 5. 4-liter v8 is rated 260 horsepower and 350 foot-pounds of torque. The 6. 8-liter v10 is rated 310 horsepower and 425 foot-pounds of torque. Both engines employ overhead cams for valve control. Steering is precise. Handling by big truck standards is crisp. Body roll is noticeably limited in the corners. And the ride quality is reasonably good, thanks to a compliant suspension. The rear seat cushion folds up and forward and the seatback folds down to create a flat, steel loading surface, a perfect place to put tools and other heavy items that need to stay secure and out of the elements. They hinge on the rear pillars of the cab and swing out a full 90 degrees from the doorsill. This design eases the loading of gear and passengers and contributes to occupant safety with the combination of vertical beams and a cross brace where the front and rear doors meet. summaryford's super duty trucks are enormously popular among people who tow horses, boats, race cars, and collectibles. They are comfortable and secure feeling.  we love the super duty styling. And it becomes a thing of real beauty when its capabilities are considered. model lineupf-250: 4x2 regular cab 137-in. 1998 ford f-150 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The trendiest of the trucks. introductionford's f-series pickups are proof that barnyard workhorse trucks will never be their squared-off selves again. Wheelbase lengths of 119. 9 in., 138. 5 in. Wheelbase, which means all f-250s are either extended cabs or long cargo beds. But, by and large, there ought to be something here for just about anybody. The xlt trim includes several items that might otherwise be options. The total for this high-line truck came to $31,450. In smoothness, it embarrasses every other full-size truck engine on the market. The power delivery is crisp and responsive, and to good low-end power it adds excellent mid-range and higher-speed power to make short work of real-world demands such as quick acceleration to freeway speeds. It replaces the ancient twin i-beam, and we're thankful. With this suspension, the ride is far better, handling is superior, steering feel is drastically improved and directional stability, such as when traveling at highway speeds in a severe crosswind, is immensely enhanced. We would expect that tire wear would also be better, as this was one of the many weak points of the twin i-beam. With the 40/60 split-bench front seat, driver and passenger have individually reclining backrests. What can serve as the center backrest is also a folding armrest; when folded forward, it provides a large cupholder and capacious bin. Inside this storage bin are places for coins, cassette tapes and so forth, and a divider which, when removed, allows space for an 8 1/2 x 11 tablet. There are a pair of cupholders in the instrument panel, and a goodly number of the expected storage compartments and map pockets here and there  the view outward is superb, as the f-series styling includes a low beltline and big windows all around. Even fairly short drivers should have decent forward visibility. The only vision-related gripe we had was a vertically narrow inside rear-view mirror, which cut down on the view to the rear  all supercabs include a third door on the passenger's side for entry to the back seat. This door is operable once the passenger's door is open, and can be opened from inside or out. Two adults should be reasonably comfortable on longer trips in the back seat. With the rear seat folded forward there's a flat, sturdy steel surface, great for carrying toolboxes or large amounts of luggage. driving impressionpeople familiar with trucks, particularly those familiar with ford trucks, will find the driving experience in the new f-series greatly enhanced. A high degree of directional stability adds to safety and comfort because it keeps the vehicle headed down its intended path  ride, too, is remarkably good. One big problem with pickup trucks has always been how poorly they tend to ride when empty; this can become really annoying on long trips down concrete interstates where trucks can bounce ceaselessly. There's no truck-like roar or rumble, no feeling that it starts thrashing at higher speeds. Whether driving around the city or taking an extended highway cruise, the 5. 4-liter triton engine is the most velvety full-size pickup truck engine we've encountered. The smaller, 4. 6-liter version is equally smooth, but it's less powerful, and we highly recommend the stronger 5. 4-liter v8. But the ford is certainly the sleekest of the bunch  there's a lot to like about it in addition to the look. The interior is extraordinary, the triton v8s are silky and strong, the ride and drive is exceptional and it's full to the brim with worthwhile features. 1997 ford f-150 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The new crown prince of pickups. introductionit could be called reinventing perfection. For 18 years the ford f-150 has been the best selling pickup in the u. S., and for the past 13 years running it has also been the best selling vehicle in the u. Not the taurus, not the accord. The front end bears little resemblance to previous noses, although the oval ford logo immediately identifies the truck. The grille opening is changed, the headlights have a new shape, and the lower bumper has been redesigned. Note here that the f-150 comes in so many permutations that what is said about a design specific on one may have little to do with another. The tail features new-look taillights that are inset and wrap around.  overall, the truck has surprisingly rounded lines. Ford says that vehicle ruggedness traditionally had been characterized by angular forms. But all those sharp edges played havoc with aerodynamics, which meant lower fuel economy and more wind noise. So ford designers went for a look that was more aero, but still conveyed ruggedness. And why they buy it. Ford knows f-150 owners very well indeed, and has broken them down into major groups.  know anybody who fits one of these categories? He buys a regular cab flareside xl and represents one sale in 10. Also one in 10 sales. Next is established and stable with kids in school and wife back to work. He buys a higher-series xlt, maybe a supercab. Three of 10 sales, so an important customer. When this guy ages, he enters free-spirited senior land, and he goes for the top of the line xlt or lariat and maybe supercab. He's good for another three in 10 sales. When ford was doing its marketing homework in preparation for the new truck, time and time again the researchers heard owners of extended cab trucks plead for more room behind the seats, and easier access. Which is precisely what they'll get in the new truck with the new passenger-side third door option.  like all pickups, the new f-150 is available in a variety of shapes and sizes. There is a short and long wheelbase styleside regular cab, a short and a long styleside supercab, a short flareside regular cab and short flareside supercab. The flaresides have aerodynamic lower moldings, a side step and other cosmetic features.  the standard engine for the new truck is a new 4. 2-liter v6 that produces a hefty 205 hp at 4400 rpm, which is a considerable advantage over the competing standard engines. Chevrolet's c/k has 180 hp, the dodge ram has 170 hp.  the ford v6 also produces 255 lb.-ft. Of torque, with 92 percent of that available at 1500 rpm. That means low-end acceleration and more trailer-towing capacity. A 4. 6-liter with 210 hp is available now, with a more powerful 5. 4-liter v8 due this fall. The smaller v8's advantage over the standard six is more torque: 290 lb.-ft. Vs. 255.  all engines come with a 5-speed manual standard, with a 4-speed electronically-controlled automatic optional. All models are available with 4-wheel drive.  after decades of twin i-beam, the f-150 finally has a new front suspension, which ford describes as upper short and long arm (sla). On 4x2 trucks, the sla suspension uses coil springs that react against a forged upper arm and a cast spindle, with control arms bolted to the frame. At the rear is a solid axle with a leaf spring on top of the axle.  the 4x4 truck us. interiorthe interior of the f-150 is far more car-like than before, surprisingly so, in light of the truck's rugged (ford would never say macho) image. The basic instrument cluster contains gauges for the important functions, but no tachometer. The usual controls are to the right in a soft-cornered rectangle. The radio has a real on/off knob, but tunes with a rocker switch.  organic shapes abound-door handle, glove box handle, ashtray door, vents. The standard seat is a 3-person bench with a 40/60 split bench standard on some models. There is increased storage area behind the seat and more clearance for the optional reclining seats.  the supercab has more rear-seat leg room than the previous f-150. A split bench rear seat is available. The lower cushion of the rear seat can be folded into a flat floor.  nice touches include extra-large cupholders, a second power point on the instrument panel for laptop computers and the like, an optional driver's side secondary visor shade, a glove box handle oriented toward the driver, adjustable d-rings for greater ease of shoulder belt adjustment, two large coat hooks and a passenger grab handle.  f-150 models are available in standard, xl, xlt and lariat interiors. Never has a full-size pickup been so refined. Ford has taken the truck out and given it a car-like feel in this respect, just as the designers did with the interior.  the ride is smooth and motion free. In its place, a compliant ride that soaks up road irregularities. For anyone with a lot of truck time, it's almost spooky the way it goes down the road. It's also quiet in there. The new rounded shape did its job in that department--no wind noise.  typically, a pickup's box and frame are designed separately, then bolted together. This time around, the two systems were designed to work together. The result is an absence of squeaks and rattles, even on rough terrain. The truck has a solid feel that has nothing to do with ruggedness. This one is built to endure.  both engines are strong, with the increased torque of the v8 obvious in a back-to-back comparison. But without that comparison, no one would likely sell the v6 short. Both are smooth, with the v8 a bit quieter.  the most remarkable thing about these engines is how much power, particularly torque, ford has been able to extract from relatively small displacements. Both engines are based on ford's highly successful 4. 6-liter modular v8, used in several passenger cars. For truck use, the 4. 6 induction system was retuned for stronger low-end performance. Overhead cam engines aren't part of american truck tradition, but we don't think anyone will have any trouble adapting to this one. summaryit's obvious the f-150 has been a good truck. But ford decided keeping its top spot meant making a good thing better, and showed confidence in also making it quite a bit different in the process. There may seem to be a bit of bet-hedging here, since ford will keep the 1996 model on sale through most of the year, but that's only because of the changeover required at two more plants.  will ford's new f-150 encounter resistance? Only time will tell. The north american truck of the year jury gave the f-150 top honors this year, and we think they called it right. This one's a winner. assembled innorfolk, va; kansas city, mo. options as testedair conditioning, am/fm radio, chrome bumper, chrome grille, tilt steering. model testedf-150 styleside. 1995 ford f-150 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Ford’s f-series is still king of the road. introductionthere are more ford f-series pickups sold every year than any other car or truck on the market, and it has been that way for more than a decade. Such is the popularity of ford’s full-size pickup, which has long offered a powerful one-two punch of enduring performance and rugged overall appeal.  to keep up with demand for the f-series trucks, ford now has five plants scattered across the country with a total manufacturing capacity of nearly 700,000 units per year.  like the chevrolet c/k trucks and the dodge ram - the ford’s only true competitors - the f-series comes in a huge array of short-and long-wheelbase body styles. Last year’s improvements included a whole pile of safety-related equipment, including a driver’s airbag, a center high-mounted brake light combined with the cargo bed lamp, cfc-free air conditioning, and a brake/shift interlock system. This information comes from ford, which estimates about 16 mpg in combined city/highway driving. We checked out the power stroke engine in an f-250 xlt regular cab styleside (the lighter-duty f-150 isn’t equipped to cope with the power stroke diesel).  the big, brawny f-250 is the model for truck quality in this segment, with brilliant paint, deep chrome and uniform panel fits, including the tailgate and the bed. The interior fit-and-finish is on par with ford full-size sedans. With its chromed, toothy grille, the f-250 looks tough - and is.  the f-250 xlt power stroke rides on lt215/85r-16d tires and eight-lug, 16-in. Wheels, all controlled by ford’s patented twin i-beam front suspension with coil springs. There’s a solid axle with leaf springs in the rear, and like any truck, it’s more comfortable loaded than not. However, ride harshness is not at all objectionable when it’s empty. The driving position is commanding, there’s lots of glass area and there’s plenty of room in which to maneuver.  some tall drivers may find the regular cab a bit short on headroom - not so much vertically (there’s more than 40 in. The dodge ram’s standard cab holds the edge in roominess. Other than that, we don’t have any knocks on comfort or accommodation.  the 17:1 ratio power steering communicates directly with the driver but tends to be numb and needs corrections at highway speeds. The power brakes are a hefty 11. 72-in. This truck absolutely lunges across intersections when it’s loaded, and will pull a 7000-lb. House trailer without looking back.  the downside? Direct-injection diesels are noisy. Anti-lock Brakes✔ AM/FM✔ Air Conditioning

2002 ford f-150 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. This means the overall length and wheelbase can vary tremendously, the latter from 120 inches to 157. 4. lineupthree engines are available: the standard engine for the base-level xl is a 4. 2-liter v6 that generates 202 horsepower. A 4. 6-liter v8 rated at 231 horsepower is optional in xl models and regular cab xlt, and standard in all others. A 5. 4-liter v8 rated at 260 horsepower is available as an option for most f-150s. All three cab styles are offered in xl, xlt, and lariat trim levels; supercabs and supercrews can be promoted to ultimate king ranch status, with leather captain's chairs, premium audio, and unique identification.  i love the supercrew, which features luxurious rear-seat accommodations that can be converted into covered cargo storage. Overall length is kept reasonable by using an ultra-short bed that measures just 5 1/2 feet. The bed is a compromise, but it relieves the driver of the daily burden of maneuvering a pickup that's as long as an aircraft carrier. The top-rung lariat supercrew is equipped like a luxury sport-utility, with handsome leather upholstery, power-adjustable pedals and an optional moonroof and rear-seat entertainment system.  for 2002, even base-level xls are air conditioned. Power-adjustable pedals are standard on all lariat models and optional on xl and xlt trim lines. Antilock brakes (abs) are standard throughout the f-150 line, and remote keyless entry is now a standard feature on xlt models.  with colors and options thrown in, the model matrix is huge. And this matrix includes some specialty models.  new for 2002 is the fx4 off-road package, which includes 17-inch cast aluminum wheels with exposed lug nuts, rancho-brand shocks, three skid plates, a 3. 55 axle and p265/70r17 white-outline tires. The fx4 package is available only on 4x4 models, but the package price ranges from $620-$1165 depending on trim level and body style.  the high-performance svt lightning, packs a supercharged 5. 4-liter v8 rated at 380 horsepower and 450 foot-pounds of torque. Specialized wheels, tires, and suspension are calibrated more for handling than for hauling. This limited production image-generator is available only as a 2wd regular cab on the 120-inch wheelbase.  also available for 2002 is a new limited-edition ford harley-davidson f-150 supercrew. It features a supercharged 5. 4-liter triton v8 engine, unique styling cues and a new color option: dark shadow grey. The 2002 ford harley-davidson f-150 supercrew is the third truck jointly developed by ford motor company and harley-davidson motor company. (it joins two other limited-edition models: the 2000 ford harley-davidson f-150 super cab and the 2001 ford harley-davidson f-150 supercrew. walkaroundthe f-150 is a stylish truck, one that pays more serious attention to aerodynamics than either the dodge or gm pickups. It is rounder, friendlier and looks more like a car than the dodge, chevy, or gmc. That may be part of the reason it outsells all other pickup trucks by a considerable margin. The current chevrolet and gmc trucks are still pretty new (they were redesigned for the 1999 model year), but their conservative styling doesn't look as modern as the ford's. The dodge ram has been redesigned for 2002, but retains a retro look that won't appeal to everyone (at least not as intensely as it appeals to its die-hard fans).  the f-150's aerodynamic hood falls away very rapidly from the base of the windshield, so it's easier to see what's immediately in front of the truck; that's handy for maneuvering off road, for parking, and when navigating in tight city traffic. Like the ram, however, its fenders seem to fill small rural roads. In tight quarters, this feels like a big truck.  the 2002 ford harley-davidson f-150 supercrew incorporates styling cues of the past with an innovative flair. The front end of the vehicle features a new upper chrome billet grille, clear-lens headlamps and clear-lens parking lamps embossed with the harley-davidson bar & shield. For 2002, a distinct rivet design surrounds the center of the 20x9-inch five-spoke chromed cast-aluminum wheels, complementing the center caps that display the harley-davidson bar & shield. Flame pin striping and chrome accessories complement the overall package. As in the past, the ford harley-davidson f-150 supercrew is lowered one inch. It features a specially tuned exhaust system with a dual inlet/dual outlet muffler, ending in chrome 3 1/2-inch 'slash cut' exhaust tips. interiorthe f-150 takes its interior design cues from the company's successful passenger cars, such as the ford taurus and lincoln continental. The designers adapted these cues to the pickup's larger cab. The curves, surfaces, textures, instrumentation and graphics inside the f-150 are more adventurous, more modern, and in some ways better executed than the gm and dodge, big and bold but not outsized for a big vehicle.  the mid-range f-150 xlt has dual air bags with a passenger-side deactivation switch. They offer a lot of interior space for the money. The xlt's cloth seats recline, and a lumbar support on the driver's side provides even more driving comfort.  all ford pickups share another trait: a relatively high ride height, even on 2x4 models. Getting into and out of the rear seats was easy. The rear seats are comfortable and offer good legroom, allowing passengers to slide their feet under the front seats. Adults should be able to ride back there for longer trips. It's also a nice place to change into and out of driver's suits when we go racing.  supercrew's rear seats fold down (and are split 60/40), offering a nearly flat luggage space. It's a great place to put cargo or big dogs. I like putting all my equipment back there when i go fly fishing. Small storage compartments behind the front seats add utility. This is because they use conventional steel leaf springs at the rear.  up front, the 2wd pickups use a coil-spring independent suspension, while the 4x4 versions use a torsion bar front suspension.  power steering is over-assisted, to make it easier to park and maneuver in tight quarters.  we find the brakes on ford trucks to be average in stopping power and average in fade characteristics.  although the optional 4. 6-liter v8 engine is rated 231 horsepower and 293 foot-pounds of torque, we don't think it's as good a performer in many respects as the small v8 engines from gm and dodge. It's a good, solid engine, with millions of examples on the road, and it sounds good at full throttle, but we find it a little duff for all-around street use, and we would certainly find it wanting if we had to haul anything heavy or tow a trailer up a mountain road. For any customer contemplating those kinds of duties, the 5. 4-liter v8 engine is a much better choice. summaryford's f-150 is still among the most car-like of the full-size pickup trucks, with slick looks, pleasing performance, a comfortable cabin, and a proven powertrain.  ford's new f-150 supercrew is the most comfortable of the light-duty crew cabs currently available. model lineup4x2 styleside 120-in. 2012 ford escape review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The ford escape is a mid-size sport-utility vehicle with credentials that make it equally suited to urban commutes or weekend off-road outings. The xlt and limited trims feature the same 2. 5-liter engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. A 240-hp 3. 0-liter e85 capable v6 is an available upgrade on xlt and limited models. Standard safety features include front airbags, front seat mounted side airbags and side-curtain airbags for front and rear passengers. For 2012, the escape receives one new exterior color.
