2011 toyota rav4 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The toyota rav4 is one of the compact suvs that created the class. It has become bigger in recent years and includes more outstanding features that make it an even more useful family vehicle. The rav4 seats five and has an available third-row seat (that folds flat into the cargo floor) that increases its capacity to seven. All v6 rav4's come with downhill assist control and hill-start assist control. All models are available with front-wheel or full-time all-wheel drive. Standard on all trims is an anti-theft system and front active headrests. The 2011 toyota rav4 is a carryover from 2010.

2006 toyota corolla review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. These upgrades add sports appeal, though we wouldn't classify the xrs as the kind of sport compact that fuels enthusiast magazines.  the seats are comfortable and supportive, whether ordered with cloth or leather. Big heating and air conditioning controls are simple, radio controls are straightforward, the cup holders work well, and cubbies are available for stashing stuff out of the way, making for a tidy, convenient cabin. Corolla earns an epa-estimated 32/40 mpg city/highway when equipped with a manual transmission. Both the manual and the automatic transmissions offer smooth shifting, and the manual is very easy to operate. All models have a smooth, comfortable ride and responsive handling.  safety is enhanced by ordering optional curtain-style airbags and side-impact airbags designed to provide additional head and torso protection in a side-impact. Optional anti-lock brakes help the driver maintain steering control after slamming on the brakes. The corolla xrs gets a 164-horsepower engine. (note that although horsepower numbers appear lower for the 2006 models, it is due to a change in how the sae calculates net horsepower. The ce comes standard with air conditioning (with an air filter), am/fm/cd stereo system, power steering, tilt steering column, tachometer, intermittent wipers, digital clock, outside temperature gauge, trunk lamp, and a dome light with delay.  corolla s, available with the manual 15,050) or automatic 15,850), gets wider 195/65r15 tires and sporty styling cues: smoked headlight lens extenders, integrated fog lamps, and an aerodynamic body package with color-keyed front and rear underbody spoilers, rocker panel extensions, and rear mud guards. Inside, the s gets a unique cloth interior, a sporty tachometer, chrome accents, and a nice leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. The s is also upgraded with power door locks, power mirrors, a vertical seat-height adjustment, and mirror-mounted map lights. Power windows with keyless entry and cruise control are included in the optional enhanced power package 500).  corolla le manual 15,215) and automatic 16,015) are upgraded with popular convenience features, including power windows, remote keyless entry, halogen headlamps, and variable intermittent wipers. The le is distinguished with body-colored door handles; it lacks the sporty body cladding of the s and looks the better for it. Inside, the le gets wood-like trim and upgraded cloth seating surfaces. An optional leather package 650) is available for the le that gives the car a luxurious look and feel and includes cruise control. Anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution 300) is an optional and we recommend it; abs helps the driver maintain steering control in an emergency braking situation, while ebd helps maintain full braking pressure even if the driver makes the common mistake of relaxing pedal pressure. Optional vehicle stability control 650) helps the driver maintain control in corners by compensating for skids.  cruise control 250) and the sunroof 750) are available as stand-alone options.  the corolla xrs 17,780) is powered by a 164-horsepower 1. 8-liter mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The xrs features a sport-tuned suspension with revised steering and 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels and michelin performance tires (an upgrade from the standard 15-inch wheels on all other corolla grades). Special interior and exterior trim distinguishes the xrs. Additional standard equipment includes anti-lock brakes with tire-pressure monitors, front and rear disc brakes, and cruise control. walkaroundthe corolla looks like a small camry. Its ovoid headlights are similar and its rakish yet curved shape is in keeping with the camry and lexus es 330. Thick a-pillars at the front and thick c-pillars at the rear give the corolla a solid look while hefty bumpers add to its substantial appearance.  corolla comes standard with 15-inch steel wheels, but looks like it could do with larger wheels and tires that would fill out the wheel wells more effectively. Aluminum 15-inch wheels 390) are an option for le models.  at the rear, the corolla has a high trunk line in keeping with the car's high belt line. The taillights match the shape of the headlights nicely. Part of the taillight module is actually mounted in the trunk lid. This is fine except that the design causes the trunk lid to be narrower than it might be.  the doors have reasonably wide openings, which makes getting in and out easy. That's a benefit of the long wheelbase (102. 4 inches), which also means that the rear wheel wells do not protrude into the rear door as much as they do on some compact cars. The corolla's looks and handling are enhanced by its relatively long wheelbase and relatively short overhangs front and rear. (the overhang is the distance from the wheels to the ends of the car).  the corolla s is distinguished by its sporty front spoiler, body-colored side rocker panels and rear skirt, along with its fog lamps and smoked headlamp masking.  the xrs gets 16-inch wheels that visually fill the wheel wells better. Distinguishing the xrs are a rear color-keyed spoiler, a color-keyed bezel surrounding the grille, and unique badges. interiorthe corolla's interior doesn't feel like a small car nor does it feel cheap, like many compacts do.  there's plenty of front legroom and headroom. The corolla seems particularly well suited to shorter people who often find it fits them perfectly. Big and tall people may find the accommodations cramped, however.  the back seats offer a decent amount of room for two average-size adults. Seat belts are provided for a third rear-seat passenger, but there's little space for such a person.  materials used in the seats appear classy with nice fit and finish. The leather seats have a luxurious soft pleated finish, while the center console and door panels have wood-like veneer trim. Okay, it's fake, but it's so well made that it looks more realistic than the real wood found in some luxury cars. Both the le and s models get a sporty leather-wrapped steering wheel that adds to the enjoyment of driving.  the xrs gets sport seats, a silver-colored instrument cluster and switch plates, lexus-like optitron gauges, and a leather-like shift boot and leather shift knob.  the dashboard is nicely laid out with exemplary ergonomics and a finish comparable to that of more expensive cars. Its top surface sweeps across the width of the car in a slight s-curve and wraps into the door trim. Each side of the center console seamlessly blends up to the lower portion of the dash. Three large round knobs for the heating and air conditioning system are located below the radio. The handle for the parking brake is located on the left of the center console so there's room for a small storage cubbyhole on the right.  storage space is generous. The glove box is big and there are small pockets in each door. Map lights for upper models are mounted on the rearview mirror, not the ideal location as it's easy to mess up the mirror adjustment when trying to switch on a light.  the instrument panel is dominated by three overlapping round gauges, a large speedometer, a smaller tachometer to the left and a water temperature gauge and fuel gauge mounted in a matching circle to the right. They incorporate red lettering on a plain white background and are easy to read at night. There's also an outside temperature readout on all models.  the trunk is one of the biggest in this class. The gooseneck hinges intrude into the cargo space and can crush fragile items if they are in the way, but.

2009 toyota matrix review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All-new version much improved, practical, fuel-efficient. introductionthe 2009 toyota matrix is a new, second-generation design developed in tandem with the corolla sedan. In essence, the matrix is the wagon/hatch version of the corolla. In fact, the company refers to it as the toyota corolla matrix. Everything else is newer, making the matrix an all-new car. The 1. 8-liter engine is new. Gearboxes, brakes, steering and safety systems have all been redone. The body work is all new, also, though the design is an evolutionary update of the previous version.  the new 2009 toyota matrix is bigger than the previous version, but toyota hasn't lost sight of this being its smallest crossover vehicle. Given toyota's history we can't imagine they will require much in the way of expensive repairs or maintenance. The matrix doesn't stand out anywhere as much as it provides a useful, better than average package for any purpose short of pickup-sized building materials or a trip to the red carpet. In short, the new toyota matrix is a very sensible choice.  by price and hatchback design, the matrix slots into multiple categories for cross-shoppers, including roomy compact cars such as the honda fit, nissan versa, subaru impreza, and vw golf; small vans and crossovers such as the honda cr-v, kia sportage/hyundai tucson, mazda5, nissan rogue; and the less-easily categorized chevrolet hhr, dodge caliber, scion xd, and suzuki sx4. lineupthe 2009 toyota matrix comes in base, s, s awd, and xrs models.  the standard matrix 16,190) uses a 1. 8-liter engine and five-speed manual gearbox and comes with cloth upholstery, air conditioning, 60/40 split-fold rear seat, am/fm/cd stereo compatible with mp3/wma files, input jack and xm satellite radio, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, optitron (electroluminescent) gauges with tachometer, power mirrors, intermittent wipers, engine immobilizer, and cargo cover. Options include alloy wheels, six-speaker radio upgrade, power locks/windows, keyless entry, cruise control, moonroof, lighter, an all-weather package (heated mirrors, intermittent rear wiper, rear-seat heat ducts), electronic stability control.  matrix s 18,260) comes with the 2. 4-liter engine and five-speed gearbox. Standard features include the six-speaker radio, power windows/locks, keyless entry and intermittent rear wiper plus a 115-volt ac outlet and larger rear brakes. Options on the all-wheel drive are similar to s, excepting the all-weather and five-speed automatic.  matrix xrs 20,660) comes with the 2. 4-liter and five-speed manual, plus seat fabric upgrade, 215/45r18 tires on alloy wheels, front strut brace, electronic stability/traction control, three-spoke leather steering wheel, rear spoiler, fog lamps, and the independent rear suspension and big rear brakes. Xrs options are limited to the jbl sound system or navigation, moonroof, cruise control, lighter, all-weather, and five-speed automatic transmission 21,850).  safety features that come on all models include front airbags, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist, tire pressure monitors, and daytime running lights. Electronic stability control is standard on xrs and optional on others. walkaroundthe 2009 toyota matrix is just slightly larger than its predecessor though it looks significantly larger. It's a fraction of an inch longer and lower than the previous model.  three factors add to its visual size: first, the nose is sleeker, with lights that more closely parallel the camry, s and xrs models have a deeper chin than before, and the grille opening sweeps cleanly up and outboard on the hood, becoming the base of the windshield pillar. The second contributor is the inch-wider rear track which carries more visual weight further aft. Finally, the c-pillar (the roof support behind the back door) is very thick and the side window has been removed, with just a sliver of curved glass at the end, leading into the hatch glass.  the longer, lower front end of s and xrs models employs outer black nacelles for fog lamp housings and the center section is dark to the bottom for a more aggressive look. The s and xrs also have different lower trim all around the body and the dark material that shows on the seams between the panels and main bodywork gives a hint of the add-on look, a situation more pronounced on light-color cars.  in profile the front side windows resemble a wine glass on its side; the upper side curved along its length and the lower side scoops downward, for a good view of the mirror without the mirror blocking any forward or side vision, and then begins the taper upward to the rear. Painted mirrors and door handles, lack of any side moldings, and just two pieces of glass keep visual clutter to a minimum.  seventeen-inch wheels make the best of big wheel wells while the rear spoiler serves as a punctuation point to an otherwise near-hemispherical rear end, and auxiliary sunshade for rear-seat riders.  it's no stretch to consider matrix the wagon or hatchback version of the corolla, indeed the official name is corolla matrix. The corolla is about seven inches longer and half that lower, excepting headroom has larger interior dimensions but a smaller trunk. Expect a matirx to cost about $1,000 more than a similarly equipped corolla. interiorinside, however, any relation to a corolla vanishes at the first glimpse of the dash, the matrix trading conservative for a more stylish look with sweeping metal-look surfaces on both sides of the instrument cluster. Two large omni-directional vents peer out the top like bug eyes and frame the gauges that include round dials for speed and engine revs and an oblong unit for ancillary information.  at this price point the materials include fabric upholstery and door panels, with plastic on trim pieces such as lower doors. It doesn't look cheap or like this is where the money was saved, and all the switchgear has a quality feel to it. Colors carry a fire theme, with either ash (light gray) or charcoal (very dark gray) to choose from. A variety of storage spaces and sizes can be found within driver's reach, and most have a nonskid, quieting rubber mat on the bottom, a big improvement over the slippery surface that came standard on the previous-generation matrix.  manually adjusted front buckets are well-placed for tall driver headroom and short driver visibility, and provide good support for the length of time it takes to burn a tank of gas, which is a long time. Primary operating controls are on steering column stalks, with less-frequent items like the optional stability control defeat on the dash; the shifter (automatic or manual) rides on a perch off. 2007 toyota camry review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. America's best-selling car is all-new. introductiontoyota is introducing an all-new camry for 2007. Gone is the camry criticized as stodgy and plain. The new one features aerodynamic new styling that shows more vigor and life than we've come to expect from a car many have labeled, and not kindly, japan's buick.  the 2007 toyota camry is thoroughly revamped, re-worked and upgraded from the tires to the roof, from the front bumper to the back, from the dashboard to the trunk. Inside is a new, airy interior. The engines are more powerful, the transmissions more diverse. And across the line, the new models are more fuel efficient.  models range from the surprisingly well-equipped ce to the near-luxury xle. In between are the le, a modest step up from the base ce, and the se, decked out with suspension, tires and trim to please the sporty crowd. Also new for 2007 is the toyota camry hybrid with a combination electric motor/gasoline engine fitted with a new, super-efficient, continuously variable transmission. S. 23 years ago as a 1983 model, the camry has been a quality car, a solid design, well built and with almost unmatched durability. For eight of the past nine years, the camry has been the best selling car in america. A 268-hp 3. 5-liter v6 is available for the le 23,540), se 24,815), and xle 28,020). Then there's the hybrid 25,900).  the entry-level camry is the ce, but it comes standard with air conditioning with pollen filter, cruise control, tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, six-way adjustable driver's seat, the usual array of power accessories, a multi-function driver information display, a 160-watt am/fm/cd/mp3 stereo with six speakers and p215/60r16 tires on steel wheels. The ce comes standard with the five-speed automatic.  the le adds an eight-way power driver's seat, remote keyless entry and, when the v6 is ordered, chrome tips on the dual exhaust. Options include a jbl sound system with a six-disc, in-dash cd changer, eight speakers and bluetooth capability; power tilt/slide moonroof; alloy wheels; and electro-chromatic rearview mirror with compass. Also optional are the programmable remote opener system, heated front seats (only with leather), the navigation system and, exclusive to the xle with the v6, the smart entry system with keyless entry and push-button start. Other than the power moonroof, the navigation system, the leather interior and the heated front seats (available with the leather trim), the hybrid comes fully loaded. It's fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels. The moonroof, navigation system, leather seats and heated front seats are optional.  safety features on all models include the required frontal airbags, upper body-protecting side-impact airbags for the front seats, head-protecting side air curtains for front and rear seats, and a driver's knee airbag, which better positions the driver for controlling the car and for avoiding injury from the steering column. A tire pressure monitoring system comes standard. Also standard are antilock brakes (abs), which aid steering control during a panic stop, brake assist, which applies the brakes more quickly and consistently when it senses the onset of a panic stop, and electronic brake-force distribution (ebd), which balances brake application front and rear for optimal stopping distance.  vehicle stability control with traction control is an optional active safety feature for the ce, le, se and xle, and we recommend getting it. walkaroundboring and bland are out. Flash and dash are in. Well, maybe not quite, but the 2007 toyota camry design is more laid back, less boxy.  the front end is fresh, with sharp points, curving cut-lines and entertaining surface planes. The hood dips broadly across the middle, pushing visual heft out over the bold front fenders. The grille wears a toyota emblem prominently above softly slanted, horizontal slats. The one-piece fascia blends all the diverse elements into a smooth aero-look that's several steps away from the pro forma, overly inoffensive, just-another-midsize-car-from-japan look.  the side aspect is less fashionable, somewhat bulky looking with a high beltline, symmetrical windows and square doors, graced with a barely discernible character line running through flush-mounted door handles. The wheel openings are circular, which on a car with a lower profile might suggest sporty intentions, but on the camry draws attention to the vast expanse of sheet metal between them and instead whispers, 'sedate.' an odd, but increasingly popular, miniaturized rip on the bmw 7 series squared-off trunk lid finishes the side profile.  that bustle-like hump gives the trunk's trailing edge a minimalist aero-lip that invites the inference it's there to reduce rear lift at high speeds. The se boosts this inference with an honest spoiler. An oversize toyota emblem perches atop the license plate recess. Proud taillight lenses mirror the headlights' outline, angling down and inward across the trunk lid seam to end in sharp points that stylistically mesh with the curved lower lip of the license plate indent, again closely tracing the pattern set by the headlights and grille. The bumper wraps around the back end, seamlessly capping the corners beneath the taillights and sweeping over and under to a soft, horizontal indentation that, on the v6-equipped models, finishes in cutouts on each end for the chrome-tipped, dual exhausts. interiorwhile the outside of the 2007 camry has been touched with a splash of pizzazz, the inside has been brushed with shades of elegance. The treatment is not quite up to, say, lexus-level luxury, but especially in the top-of-the-line xle, the new camry definitely raises the bar on mid-price, midsize sedan interior polish.  everything about the new camry's interior speaks refined function. Speedometer and tachometer are large and circular, easy to scan, save for brief periods at dusk and under certain types of street lighting, when the luminescent instruments on all but the se can wash out to the point they're almost unreadable. Those in the se, which are black on white, avoid this eye-straining fade.  controls for audio and air conditioning are easy to control, clearly labeled and logically positioned in the center stack, with audio above and climate below. A large glove box spans the lower dash between the center stack and passenger door. Only the front doors get map pockets, which are fixed, hard plastic. A similar material forms the magazine pouches on the backside of the front seatbacks. A covered storage bin in the fold-down center armrest in the rear seat doubles as cup holders; on the se and xle, it conceals a pass-through to the trunk. Despite a fully finished trunk, there are no pull downs inside to spare fingers the grime and grit that can accumulate on auto bodies in winter.  the cabin is trimmed in a brushed metallic finish in the ce, le, se and hybrid. Real-looking wood grain is used inside the xle, including surrounds for the inside door latches. The fabric upholstery combines breathable, waffle-texture insets with smooth bolsters and backing. The leather upgrade isn't quite kid glove, but it does feel expensive. Seat bottoms are markedly short on thigh support, however. And the mouse fur-grade headliner disappoints.  much of the two inches added to the wheelbase of the 2007 camry over the '06's has been translated into more room for people, although not necessarily in quantifiable, industry-standard measures.

2006 toyota tundra review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The toyota tundra may not boast the brawny looks and heavy-duty capability of other full-size pickups, but it is smooth and quiet, light on its feet, and easy and enjoyable to drive on a daily basis. Three trim levels are available: base, sr5, and limited. Access cab v8 models are available with a full-width or stepside bed. Two engines are available: the base 245 horsepower 4. 0-liter v6 and the optional i-force dohc 282 hp 4. 7-liter v8. The v6 comes with a six-speed manual. A five-speed automatic is optional with the v6, standard with the v8. The toyota tundra is a carryover from 2005.
